New Crafts

Psychologists say that your general level of happiness doesn't change over time, just has little blips of down moments and happy moments.

Well, I disagree. Since I became an adult and gained power over my own life, I have been exponentially happier. And since I graduated from college and gained free time, even happier! Now that I am being treated for the chronic problem that was zapping my energy and causing me to pass out at the slightest provocation, I am incredibly happier and able to do all the things I didn't even have the energy to think about before.

Exhibit A: I decided to learn how to sew, since store-bought clothes never fit right and are too expensive. Plus I want to have something productive to do while I watch TV.

First up was a skirt because it looked the easiest.

Next project will be a skirt also, because I neglected to allow extra material for my hips and can barely get the waist of the skirt over my upper body. Once it's on it fits fine, though. And there is even a lining!

The angle of the first photo made the skirt look much longer than it really is, so here's a shot of the hemline to show that it hits right at the knee:

Tomorrow I am going to take advantage of the sale at JoAnn's Fabrics and get even prettier material for my second try!
