To the left is a photo of the two baby hats I knitted for Save the Children. The pattern is easy and quick to do, and there's nothing better to work on while watching NBC Thursdays : ) I get to laugh at Tina Fey's witty jokes while simultaneously creating something that will keep a low birth weight baby warm!
Teaching kids as an AmeriCorps member has been interesting. My most recent session with the kids at the Family Center was the best yet, with about 75% of the kids actively participating! Once they were excused for free play, I had to break up a game of about twenty boys playing "Smear the Queer." I can't believe that kids still say that! Though of course, most of them didn't realize what the title implied. So we changed it to "Crush the Carrier" - a much more accurate description.
Today I have the day off because Gahanna is not in school, and I'm not gonna lie, I've been playing the Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker game. Sometimes the stuff I hear at my program gets me really down, and distractions help. Then I'm off to see Jennifer at her Regional flight team competition!
